From a Grand Guest List to an Intimate Luxe Affair: How Carrie and Tyus Pivoted Their Wedding into a Backyard Masterpiece
When life threw a curveball at Carrie and Tyus’s 300-guest wedding plans, they turned that challenge into an opportunity for something truly extraordinary. Originally set in a Minneapolis venue, their wedding took a turn when COVID-19 restrictions meant rethinking the entire guest list and format. Instead of postponing, they embraced the moment and reimagined their big day right in their own backyard.
Transforming a Backyard into a Luxury Venue
I still vividly remember the initial site tour. It was a chilly day, the backyard was unfinished, the pool wasn’t installed yet, and we were facing the challenge of creating a timeless, white-lux wedding aesthetic in a space that was still very much in progress. But we were up for the challenge!
We brought in an incredible team of local vendors and even some talent from Memphis to help us turn this backyard into a dreamy wedding venue. A custom tent was installed with chandeliers, an all-white floral backdrop was created for their poolside ceremony, and we even floated florals in the pool to add that extra touch of romance. The result was a luxurious, intimate affair that felt like it was straight out of a bridal magazine.
The Magic of a Smaller Celebration
What made this wedding truly special was the intimacy. Carrie and Tyus were surrounded by their closest family and friends, and the focus was purely on their love and their story. It’s a reminder that a wedding doesn’t have to be about the number of guests; it’s about the meaning behind the celebration. Even now, their guests still rave about the experience, and it stands as a testament to how a smaller, thoughtfully designed wedding can leave a lasting impression.
